The Head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Foreign Relations Department Metropolitan Cyril sees as a development of historic importance the construction of St. George’s Monastery in Götschendorf, in Germany’s Brandenbrug province, some 80 kilometres away from the German capital.
According to the Russian hierarch, the monastery in the making would be used as a venue for spiritual and cultural communication of Germans and Russians. Metropolitan Cyril pointed out that some young people in Germany have already voiced their wish to serve at the monastery for the rest of their lives. Novitiates from Russia will also be sent to serve at the church. Metropolitan Cyril was in Germany as the head of a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
